Pawsitively Pets Kids Camp

A Toronto summer camp teaching children about pets and animals and the wonderful human – animal bond

Parents are constantly hearing pleas from their children asking for a pet. Kids of all kinds love animals of all breeds, but an essential component of that companionship is the knowledge of how to take care of pets and to know which animal is the best fit for each child.

Pawsitively Pets is a summer camp like no other in Canada. Featuring different levels for youth aged 5 to 16, this week-long camp will help students interact with all kinds of animals and learn what they each need to live a happy and fulfilling life.

Young Pups is for children aged 5 to 8, and Cool Katz is for those aged 9 to 12. Both of these programs provide kids with age-appropriate daily activities interacting with a wide variety of animals, working with them hands-on and understanding more about them, their care, and how to safely interact with them.

Animal Care, for those 10 to 13, allows campers to be in charge of caring for on-site animals as well as working hands-on with a variety of other animals focusing on their care needs and ensuring they are healthy and happy.

In the Mini Vet program, youth aged 12 to 16 will be introduced to veterinary medicine, learn all about what it takes to be a vet, and what you need to take in school. Campers will become certified in Pet First Aid, and will learn the basics of radiology, parisitology, and large animal veterinary medicine. They will leave the course having learned how to give an injection, watched a surgery, completed a full pet wellness exam and learned the techniques to do their own surgery on a banana!

There is also a Junior Leader program for those aged 15 to 17 years. This program helps develop leadership skills in youth and will contribute to their mandatory hours of volunteer time for graduation.

Pawsitively Pets makes it easy for kids to access this wonderful experience. The camp is located at Dundas Animal Hospital near High Park in Toronto, however bussing is provided throughout the GTA and York Region.

A percentage of the proceeds from each camp go towards supporting reputable pet and animal charities in Ontario.

All animals are provided by WHIMZ Live Animal Programs (www.whimzonline.com), and have all been kid-approved.
