Walk For Those Who Can’t!

2010 Toronto Walk for ALS Registration Now Open

The Walk for ALS is the signature event of the ALS Society of Ontario. This year’s walk will help increase awareness of the disease, raise money for equipment and support services for those living with ALS, and garner funds towards research to find a cure.

Last year the Toronto Walk for ALS had 800 participants and raised over $112,000. This year, the ALS Society of Ontario is hoping to raise $125,000 in a walk held on Saturday, June 5th at Wilket Creek Park.

Sure to be a day the whole family will enjoy, the Toronto Walk for ALS will feature:

• Fantastic incentive prizes for fundraisers: stainless steel water bottles, gym/duffel bags, ALS sweatshirts and even Flip Camcorders!
• The Argos cheerleaders will be there, cheering on walkers and selling tickets to their ALS Awareness Night game against the Hamilton TigerCats on October 15th
• Awards for highest fundraiser and best team
• Fun activities for the whole family: a dog station with water and treats and a kids’ area with books and toys
• A delicious BBQ lunch and refreshments are provided to all walkers!

Best of all, you’ll be giving much-needed support to the ALS Society of Ontario.

ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a fatal and rapidly progressive neuromuscular disease affecting more than 1,000 Ontarians and their families. There is no cure or effective treatment. Eighty per cent of those affected die within two to five years of diagnosis.  The ALS Society of Ontario is a non-profit organization committed to providing equipment and support services to increase quality of life and provide independence, dignity, hope and choice to people with ALS.
